Michael Johnson, Director of Tennis

As director of tennis, Michael teaches tennis technique. But if you want to ease yourself into tennis lessons, keep checking the Tunica National News blog for his tennis tips. Before he began teaching at Tunica National in September 2009, Michael was director of tennis at Chickasaw Country Club in Memphis for 15 years. He was also assitstant pro at Memphis Country Club for five years and played at Delta State University. In addition to helping Tunica National players improve their backhand, Michael enjoys helping his two daughters with their tennis, basketball and soccer game. Though Michael enjoys teaching players of all ages and levels, he said his favorite part of his job is seeing beginners become excited when they see improvement in their skills.

Donny Flowers, USPTA Head Tennis Professional

Donny has spent more than 30 years playing tennis and has been teaching at Tunica National since its opening in February 2004. When instructing, he said his favorite thing is watching students have fun while improving their game and showing good sportsmanship. But when he isn’t helping students on Tunica National’s Owen Courts, he plays on a court on the smaller scale: a table tennis table. Donny has competed in nine U.S. Table Tennis Opens and against China, Japan, Sweden and Russia. Donny is still active in tennis and table tennis tournaments.
